|| The organizational unit element groups departments for reporting at the collegiate and other higher levels. A specific org unit will not necessarily represent the University-wide organizational chart. For example, Org 43 -- Information Technology Services actually falls under the Vice President for Research, Org 04. Each department and sub-department combination reports to a unique organizational unit. Organizational units may participate in any number of funds.
||Accounting & Financial Reporting must approve a new organizational unit before adding it to the Chart of Values database.
In the GLDSS table GL_GL_ORG_UNIT, a field named Corp is included in the table with values of 10 and 30. Corp was part of the legacy General Ledger system and has no value in the current system.
||This element always requires a valid organizational unit value. Accounting & Financial Reporting assigns each department number a valid organizational unit value in the system based on the current reporting structure. Should the reporting structure change, Accounting & Financial Reporting will make the necessary adjustments to the system.
